BETSY COMBIER

Betsy Combier, the central figure in the Restraining Order, tried to undermine Teachers4Action's lawsuit by disseminating its confidential documents, and dragging its attorney and his family in the mud in the most vicious manner. Why would a "teachers advocate" do that ? One would expect Betsy to support Teachers4Action's lawsuit because she knows " backward and forward the process that's being used to put them there [Rubber Room]: false claims, things they did not do and have no ability to find out what evidence is...". Outraged, she was addressing chancellor Klein at a meeting where she took the floor for two minutes: " Mr. Klein, you are absolutely, hundred percent wrong (...)Your legacy will be to imprison these people..."
We invite you to hear the entire speech , interrupted by loud applause.
Betsy Combier's overnight metamorphosis from eloquent "teachers advocate" to renegade seems incomprehensible until one reads her letter to Randi Weingarten to solicit a job -- quite illuminating.

A union of more than one hundred thousands members, with a host of lawyers on its payroll, resorting to a paralegal to address the rubber room's legal and contractual issues ? Randi's real motive for hiring Betsy Combier was not to resolve anything, but to neutralize her before she further inflamed the UFT's regicidal members. Icing on the cake : the "teachers advocate" became the UFT's attack dog against Teachers4Action and its attorney... until the restraining order was issued, that is.

Strange Bedfellows : Chancellor Joel Klein (DOE), Randi Weingarten (UFT President), &
Betsy Combier (Paralegal, self-appointed teachers' advocate)

"
To see Chancellor Klein and Betsy Combier on the same side of a lawsuit is a supreme irony. Betsy is one of the chancellor's fiercest critics, although she goes overboard sometimes : she accused him of discriminating against minorities.
