Ms Smith,Wiltshire's girl friend dating back to high school in Jamaica, initially recruited as history teacher in summer 2003, became an A.P. supervising guidance counselors in September despite lacking a license in the field. One can imagine how my colleagues feel, especially Ms. Parsons, a licensed guidance counselor (among five) and member of the recruitment committee that interviewed Ms. Smith.
This blatant nepotism is not limited to Smith :

• Adilifufu, recruited as history teacher, became an A.P. for administration, position held by Ms.Fraser (now teaching at Prospect heights High School) whose unforgivable sin was to serving under Mr. Charles Majors -- the previous principal promoted to superintendent -- who hired Witshire and fired him for incompetence in September 2002 within a year ! Wiltshire was reinstated after a rally at City Hall staged by two dozen parents lead by Clarence Norman Jr. -- Brooklyn's Democratic party president who is serving time in Rikers Island for corruption and theft -- forced the chancellor's hand.
  
  
• Ms. Lowe, the current parent coordinator, Jamaican, replaced Mr. Francisco Brown.
  
• Mr. C. , an uncertified math teacher who was far from completing his bachelor in math. What kind of recruitment committee are we talking about ?
  
• More than 20% of the math faculty are Jamaican.

Unlike Wiltshire, Gary Giordano, Principal of Wagner HS in Staten Island, has probably no protectors in high places : the OSI has been investigating him since November on Regents exam grades tampering (Wiltshire's speciality) and "whether Ms Incantalupo's promotion to AP after five years of teaching was influenced by her relationship with Giordano." Five years ? Wiltshire waited for a couple of weeks.
