Two dozens parents -- mostly from the West Indies -- , lead by Assemblyman Clarence Norman Jr., staged a rally at the City Hall , and forced the chancellor's hand to reinstate Wiltshire after he was fired by Superintendent Charles Majors on 9/4/02. Manipulative to the hilt,Wiltshire tried to use parental complaint letters he and his cronies instigated themselves, in order to build a bogus case against this teacher. None of these parents ever met with me.

Just forget telling your child to go to the Peace Corps. It's right around the corner. It's standing on the corner. It can't speak English. It doesn't want to speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk. “Why you ain't where you is go, ra.” I don't know who these people are. And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. Then I heard the father talk. This is all in the house.

Dear Dr. Michael Wiltshire,

This is E.T. the parent of M.T. , who is a senior. I am concern about the Math teacher that instructs the class, Mr. Fofana. From my understanding of what my child told me, the teacher is crazy. My son describes his attitude to me and I couldn't believe that this man is this way in the school. I came up to the school on Monday the 4th October 2004. I spoke to the parent coordinator and I understand that the action of the teacher is out of hand. Mr. Fofana also physically put his hand on a child said the coordinator. I was very much in shock that the staff of the school did not take action before. My son has this instructor and he needs this class to graduate. So I don't know how my son can learn when he can't even ask a question in class. Even if the children ask anything concerning the work he ignores them. That's in treatment for the children. This teacher Mr. Fofana should be out of there, if we care for the children safety and education. So, please take action because this is a serious problem.

Sincerely Yours,

T. (father)

Dear Dr. Michael Wiltshire,

This is a student by the name of M.T. I am currently in the 12th grade and desperately in need of this class. This class is Mathematics, it's vital that I learn the material that is required for me to past [sic]. I'm in Math 5, with the instructor being Mr. Fofana. This teacher makes it very difficult to learn in the class because he just goes through the lesson without going over it. When you may try to ask a question about the class activity, he just ignores you. If you do ask the question, he catches an attitude at you because should know the material. He would tell the people in the class to shut up and would argue with them or I should say with himself. They would question themselves about what is wrong with him. I don't know how can I learn when the instructor does not review the class exercise. I am complaining because I need this Math credit so that I can graduate on time. So can you please assist me in anyway of getting a new. instructor or change my class.

Hear My Plead,

M.T. (The Senior) Thank You! .

In addition to remedial math he badly needs, this letter points to the urgency for M.T. to work on his English.

October 7,2004
On 9/30/04 I attended a meeting with Mrs. Adoni and Mr. Forana [sic] concerning my child A. My child told me about an incident that occurred some day's ago and a meeting was scheduled on the 30th of September. In the meeting A. was asked what took place. A. told her part of the story of what took place she said the teacher stepped on her foot and at another time told her to shut up in front of the class. After hearing her I listened to Mr. Forana explain his side of the story he said A. was bad since day one but he never knew her name, she didn't fill out a card for his class it's not written down. He said he had cutting sheets, so he left to go get them. While he was gone A. said the class that he just showed us wasn't her class so that's why her name is not on that list. When he came back Ms. Adorn asked to see the list she seen it was different period class and informed him ofthat he said he didn't find any cutting sheets. He also said A. talked about his mother in which I asked Ms. Adoni if she has time if she would the class and find out for me. She said he said something about her parents but it was checked out. During the meeting I asked and question and some of the answers he gave I found him to be very rude towards me. He also told me he could see that I am a parent who believes everything my child says. I let him know that I am here trying to fix a problem_I were the type of parent to believe everything my child say I would not have come up here to get this whole thing straightened out. I didn't appreciate that. He felt that everything she bought up was not important but what he had to say was. I didn't really say anything about it, I felt we were adults and he should have acted that way. After a few more things were said the meeting was finished. That's about everything that took place that evening.

Thank you

The same parent wrote this anonymous letter, copy of which was sent to my wife! To my knowledge, only the payroll secretary and the principal have access to teachers' files, which includes their addresses.

To whom it may concern,

I, L.M. , was in Mr. Fofana's class on Wednesday October 6th, 2004. He was doing the problems from the worksheet he gave the previous day. Majority of the class didn't comprehend what he gave for homework, so we asked him to explain what was going on in the class. I raised my hand to ask him to explain exactly what was going on, and in his exact words he told me " Oh well, I can't do anything about it". I said to him that "You are the teacher and it is your duty to help us". And he just turned his back and mumbled on to himself. There was a teachers' aid in the class. Her name is Mrs. Bell. Mrs. Bell was handling a student in the classroom. Mrs. Bell was talking to one of the students in the room and that student was becoming very disruptive. Then she called one of the security guards to come and talk to one of the students. I assume that the dean was also on his way to evaluate the class, but instead he walked into the "the battle field". So the dean happened to see what was happening and he pulled me out of the class. The dean then asked me what was going on and I told the dean exactly what happened and he old me to stay in his office for the rest of the period.
